Much Music VJ Search - Sarah Campbell

After a few of my friends mentioned that Much Music was having a VJ Search and I should apply, I figured why not?

When they told me however, there were only4 days left, so I had to come up with an awesome video in only a couple days.

It was relatively easy to do because all of the taping was just done in and around my house, so no major planning had to be done. It was a lot of fun because I've never done an audition tape before, so it was fun trying out something new. I'll admit it was a bit embarassing talking about myself in the middle of my living room. Thankfully not many of my roommates were home so I didn't have to do it in front of anyone. It may also be because I made sure of it by putting signs on doors hahaha.

D.I.Y. Computer charger wrap

Are you so shocked and ashamed by Lance Armstrong's confessions that you no longer feel a need for all those Livestrong bracelets? Well feel no more, for I have a solution and a purpose to keep supporting its background cause. What better way to display your donation then by holding the wayward pieces of your computer cord together with this mighty arm band.

Store bought computer cord wraps
I'm not %100 sure if they work for other types of cords, but I think it would be worth a shot.
I was in my campus bookstore the other day checking out the cool computer gadgets they've got and I stumbled upon these things. They are apparently supposed to be used for holding your Macbook computer cord together when the extension is on. This is a really great idea, but those bands look like a cheap knock off of one of those stretchy jelly-like bracelets (much like a Livestrong one), maybe only 1/2 inch thicker.

Over the next couple of days I kept my eye out for some cheap versions of those bracelets. While I waited for something to catch my eye I tried things that I already had at hand. I first tested this theory with a really thin elastic band. With the cord being as heavy as it is, the elastic failed.  I started to second guess whether or not this D.I.Y. was going to work but the next day my roommate came to me with a set of 3 Adidas versions of these jelly bracelets she just happened to be throwing away . Meant to be, right? So I took it upon myself to complete this challenge and blog all about it. What a great idea.

So here we are, and here is what my new organized Macbook computer cord looks like...

Friends

This is a music video I made out of random short clip that I've taken throughout the past year. I really wanted to make something to show how awesome my friends are and how lucky we are to have each other (vomit). This song has always inspired me though, and after watching the official Lana Del Rey video for "Video Games", I felt like I could really do something similar. It's a roller coaster of a song, and I think both her and my videos show the beauty/pain/happiness/hurt and passion between friends, love and fame. (fame more-so for her...)

OR
Watch on Youtube here! Trust me, it's much better.

Giveaway Entry

I've been following along with one of my favourite blogs, Selective Potential, who has really awesome looks/contest/thoughts and just overall blog. Right now she has a new giveaway contest going on that I really couldn't pass up.

I've recently realized that entering small giveaways and contests like these are an awesome way to see other blogs that you may have never found on your own. (because there are billions of us out here...) SO, this is a cool way to see what others have to offer, get your name out there and maybe even win something! (wink, wink)

  1. The first site I looked at was evermicrush.com . They've got some really cute dresses and tops that are the perfect dressy/casual in between-er.

What really caught my eye was the Winter Solstice Infinity Scarf (typical Canadian). Besides being an awesome mustard color, knit and undoubtably warm, it's only $7.50! It's so refreshing seeing stores/blogs with good quality clothes for reasonable prices. I probably wouldn't be able to find a cheaper scarf if I looked around Wal-Mart (and definitely not one as chic ;) ). Follow this link and have a look for yourself! Infinity Scarf

I need it.

2. The second site I visited was brickyardbuffalo.com
Holy crap I love this site.

Thank you Tieka from Selective Potential for introducing me to this wonderful shop! They've got the really good idea of having store items on the front page with a clock counting down, to the second, their sale price availability. What a good way to get people to buy! As soon as I realized the countdown was already in the process, I immediately thought, "oh my god I need to get one of these NOW"

My favourite items (after a long internal debate) were the Made by Jewels earrings. They've got a lot of really cool patterns and I honestly don't know how anyone could ever choose out of all of them. I want them all.

3. The third prize is to win adspace on  the Shannon Hearts blog.

This would be so awesome to win because with the amount of activity going on, you're bound to get some attention! I really admire that about Shannon because the blog really reflects what I can only imagine, is a lot of work. Her blog looks clean, organized, personal (with little hearts discreetly popping up behind tabs)and just overall really nice.

Changes

For most people who know me, know that I don't deal well with change. And right now we are in the middle of a doosy.

Moving sucks. Especially when you don't want to.

it's that time of year where your landlord starts lurking around again and asking questions like, "think you'll be staying another year?". What happens though when you don't know the answer? My roommates and I are split. Half of us want to stay and half of us want to leave. Not because we are questioning our unconditional love for each other, but because there are qualities about this house that are a bit, shall we say, under qualified. There's awful heating (essential for us Canadian's), drawers are broken, lights are unscrewed and things are just more or less falling apart.

What they are failing to see however, is the sheer beauty in all these flaws. We have an old house, and I mean really old. But that's the beauty of it! Of course things are going to be falling apart. Holes can get punched in the most expensive of walls. Any place we move into has it's ups and downs, we've just got to learn to love what we have and take it for as long as we can. It's easy to love when We have a beautiful full wall bookshelf in our living room, old atlas wallpaper as soon as you walk in the door and full sized windows in the sunroom (what we like to call the "culture room") that open fully to the outdoors where you can sit and eat breakfast as you watch unaware passersby. WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE?!

So what do you do?

I always told myself that if I didn't live in this house then I would probably move somewhere bigger, better. That time has come now and I am shamefully unprepared. What do you do? Move to a house for another year, dislike it but build up a portfolio and a plan, or move away, start new and just go for it? For now I guess only time will tell. But right now, even time has an expiration date.

Essie Nail Polish- Sew Psyched

ok, I admit I have a problem.
This time it's not my fault though, it's my gosh darn roommate who keeps coming to me with these amazing colors. I CAN'T HELP MYSELF! This time I tried out Essie's "sew psyched" and, as per usual, it did not disappoint. It's like a forest green, which goes perfectly with the darker winter colors. OR a good contrast to that red lipstick ;), any way you wear it, it looks rad.

 Pretty sexy.

Essie nail polish- Sand Tropez

Newwwwwwww nail polish!

My roommate recently came to me with this new color that I immediately fell in love with. It has a classy, elegant, soft winter feel and I absolutely love it! It makes any hands and nails look like they're worth a million bucks (because they are :). )

Here's what it looks like:

Yah, I know...my hands look fantastic. Try it out for yourself!
